Vertical

Biopharmaceutical

Technology

Hybrid System, CHP, Solar PV

Location

Puerto Rico

Scope:

3.5 MW Electrical Capacity, 880 RTON Chilled Water Capacity, 20000 lbs/hr Steam Capacity, Grid-Tied Operating Mode

Objective:

As a company-wide goal, a pharmaceutical plant dedicated efforts to reduce its reliance on energy from fossil fuels by migrating to “clean” energy technologies.

Solution:

TEKSOL implemented a hybrid grid comprised of a Solar PV farm and a CHP system fueled by resources such as propane or natural gas. Integrating solar power and cogeneration provided the client with enough energy to meet the facility’s electrical and thermal needs.

Results:

High energy savings, in part due to the CHP’s 85% efficiency, made this solution very cost-effective. The system also lowered CO2 emissions, addressing the client’s goal to reduce its carbon footprint.
